Each and every one of us has something to contribute to the conservation and safekeeping of the environment. Whether we are taking our annual holiday to Spain to take clases de ingles para particulares or popping down the shops for a pint of milk, our mode of transport should always be of primary concern for us.
How many times do you take the car less than a kilometre to pick up a few items of groceries or get the kids from school? If we are honest with ourselves, probably too often. A little thought and a little planning would make you reconsider your mode of transport.
One strategy I use myself is little and often. Instead of a big weekly shop at an out of town store, I now try to cycle to a local co-op store ten minutes away whenever I need something. This means that I get at least some exercise most days and I am using the car less.
You can make changes to your holidays too. Try taking a train down to your destination instead of flying – it can be fun as you get to see the countryside.
And when you are on holiday why not try hiring a bike instead of a car, you will probably see a different side of the country. A few changes here and there will make a real difference.
